The splendid Umbrian Nature can be visited at all times
of the year. It is fascinating to observe this wonderful landscape where the
colours and perfumes change in accordance with the eternal cycle of the seasons:
from the verdant green of spring, to the yellow of the grains in summer, to the
thousand colours of the leaves in autumn, to the rarified and magical atmosphere
of winter.
Discovering Umbria proposes various activities as a means of making
contact with this wondrous natural land of Umbria, from horseback riding, to
birdwatching, to trekking in the nearby forests, to searching for the precious
black truffles, entirely immersed in the atomsphere of other times
Programme: “Adventures on Horseback”
Discovering Umbria collaborates with a specialist horse riding centre affiliated with FITETREC-ANTE (Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism). FITETREC-ANTE’s main purpose is to publicise equestrian tourism, that is, to use the horse to discover, or rediscover, hidden territories, and to communicate these values to all those who partake, learning that the horse is not merely a means of transport but a companion in adventure.
Our horse riding centre offers:
School of horse riding and handling:
Riding lessons for beginners and non beginners, directed towards cross-country activites.
Guided walks:
Tourist excursions, for those with less experience, in the woodland areas in the countryside around the horse riding centre.
Organized excursions:
These are organized journeys on horse back of one or more days directed at groups of more expert riders, either with your own horse or with a hired horse from the riding centre.
It is possible to arrange a specific excursion for a group of interested people that is “made-to-measure”.
Programme “The Search for the Black Truffle”
An expert tartufaio (truffle hunter) and his dog will guide you to the discovery
of the truffle and reveal the secrets of its search. During the excursion all
signs of tranquillity in the nearby reserves will be forgotten as the participants
(max eight persons) become involved in a fascinating "battuta" (combing
of the area) in the search for the precious booty. The walk through the woodland
area where the truffles grow will also provide numerous opportunities to observe
the many species of birds and animals that live in the region.
The walk finishes with lunch in a nearby agriturismo with where you will enjoy exquisite tidbits prepared, of course, using the black truffle as a base. The excursion is conducted in Italian but with assistance in English.
