In September Alessandra is invited to give a lecture at the prestigious “International Summer School - Sustainable Management and Promotion of Territory” held in Todi.
The project is promoted by the University of Perugia Department of Agricultural Economics, Farm Appraisal and Agrofood Sciences.
UMBRIA ON THE BLOG 2011
In April Alessandra, who runs with passion and love our blog, is invited to take part to the first bloggers' tour in Umbria together with other well-known Italian bloggers.
Alessandra has written - and she is still writing - several posts on Umbrian food and traditions as guest blogger for this important and innovative project.
Umbria on the blog is a project sponsored by Confindustria Umbria – Tourism and Hotel, whose aim is the promotion of the Region through the new technologies and the social media.
WTM WORLD RESPONSIBLE TOURISM DAY 2010
WTM (World Travel Market) - one of the most important event for the tourism industry - officially admits Discovering Umbria to take part to the WTM RTD 2010 (Word Travel Market Responsible Tourism Day) - global campaign, in association with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) - designed to inspire and educate the industry to actively help save the planet.
On the 10th November 2010, to mark the day, Discovering Umbria organizes an edu-tour to local farms to support and spread the principles of Responsible Tourism, inviting collegues and partners involved in the tourism business in Umbria.
ITALIAN RESPONSIBLE TOURISM AWARD 2010
Discovering Umbria wins "Italian Responsible Tourism Award" for the category "Nature and Territory – Wine Tours in Umbria". The prize – organized by “L’Agenzia di Viaggi”, the the leading professional publication for tourism in Italy for the last 40 years - is under the patronage of ENIT and it is based on quality criteria established by UNWTO (The United Nations World Tourism Organisation):
- respect toward the environment and cultures;
- centrality of the local host community and its right to be a protagonist in developing sustainable and responsible tourism in its native land;
- positive interaction between the tourist industry, local communities and travellers
PALAZZO DEL GUSTO-CITTA’ SLOW - CONFERENCE
Discovering Umbria has been invited to take part in the conference “Cammina cammina, il piacere, la cultura e l’economia” which aims to examine the multitude of themes connected to excursionism, an event promoted by the Palazzo del Gusto – Città Slow at its headquarters in Orvieto.

FOR THE SUPPORT TO THE CAMPAIGN “4-LEGGED TOURISTS”The campaign is devoted to improve the competitiveness of tourism in our Country, bearing in mind that one family out of three owns a pet and needs information on how to organise their holidays.Another fundamental goal is to fight the shameful abandonment of animals that is still a widespread phenomenon throughout Italy, involving more than 750,000 animals every year. Abandoning animals is a crime in Italy, punishable with up to 1 year imprisonment.
BELLITALIA, TOKYO - CONFERENCE
Discovering Umbria organized a talk on Umbria and a tasting of extra virgin olive oil at Bellitalia, one of the most prestigious schools of Italian in Tokyo.
